DINOPHOBIA

 

 

  

« DINOPHOBIA » est le dernier concept de bande dessinée à saveur locale que j’ai créé en 1993 pour soumettre à des journaux locaux dans ma région. Suite à mon contrat de bande dessinée à feuilletons hebdomadaires que j’avais réalisé pour le Courrier de Saint-Hyacinthe de 1989 à 1990 (où je fus caricaturiste éditorialiste durant 21 ans) je préparai quatres autres concepts similaires pour présenter à d’autres journaux locaux dans la région, étant donné que le Courrier avait annulé mon projet avant la fin, ne publiant jamais les trois dernières pages, jugeant que les lecteurs étaient indifférents. Aucun de mes autres concepts ne fut acceptés, alors 8 ans plus tard je recyclai les pages pour les utiliser dans ma minisérie Escadron DELTA Squadron # 5 en modifiant les personnages pour qu’ils ressemblent aux personnages principaux de la minisérie et en changeant le texte pour incorporer l’histoire au scénario de cette dernière. DINOPHOBIA, que vous pouvez voir ici, apparait dans sa version originale telle que je l’ai soumise à l’époque au journal local de la région où j’habitais alors. J’incluais toujours des lieux existants et forts connus des régions où opéraient les journaux pour inciter ces derniers à s’y intéresser.

« DINOPHOBIA » is a concept for a weekly comic that I presented to a local newspaper back in 1993 but the project was not picked up by the paper. It was the last concept of that sort that I prepared and submitted to a newspaper since the one I had done from 1989 to 1990 for the Courrier de Saint-Hyacinthe (where I was also the political cartoonist for 21 years) since they had cancelled the second weekly comic I was doing there three pages before the end, because readers showed no interest. During the 3 years that followed, I prepared four more weekly comic concepts for different local newspapers in the nearby area where I lived at the time. DINOPHOBIA was the last and the one I’m most happy with in regards to my drawing skills, which had improved to a level I found satisfactory, and script writing. 8 years later, having no use for these concepts but not wanting to waste the art, I recycled those pages in another title I published (Escadron DELTA Squadron # 5) by changing the characters so they would look like the main characters of the mentioned title and rewrite the script so it could fit in with it. Even if those pages are in French you can understand what’s going on just by looking at the pictures since the story telling, I think, is visual enough that you can guess at the intrigue.
